A Firm with Decades of Experience, but a Modern Focus

Arago Law Firm, PLLC is a business and civil litigation firm that has, since its founding, placed legal competence, professionalism, and compassion at the highest of its priorities.

The firm was founded by attorney Maureen Arago, who received her Juris Doctorate with Honors from the University of Florida College of Law in 1989.

Upon leaving the firm Carlton, Fields, Ward and Cutler in 1991, at which Ms. Arago worked in the Real Estate Department, she established her own firm, then the Arago Law Office. The firm focused at that time primarily on real estate closings and litigation brought about by failing savings and loans.

The firm quickly became an approved firm for both the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation FDIC and the Resolution Trust Corporation “RTC”.

The firm also co-counseled with several larger law firms to tackle complex cases requiring additional personnel.

As institution-related litigation was completed and assets were sold to other financial institutions, the firm's emphasis switched to commercial litigation such as foreclosures and receiverships, and then after the new institution acquired the asset, the emphasis switched to closing the sale of the foreclosed assets.

This decade has brought a new wave of challenges for financial institutions and their borrowers. Unlike the problems of the last decade, these new difficulties are predominantly affecting the residential property owner and borrower. Therefore, much of the firm’s current litigation practice is devoted to assisting residential property owners impacted by the deflated housing market and loans they cannot seem to manage, and bankruptcy filings (creditor and debtor) for both companies and individuals.
