Attorney Maureen Arago Awarded 2019 Belvin Perry, Jr. Legacy of Justice Award

On October 24, 2019, attorney Maureen Arago was awarded the Belvin Perry, Jr. Legacy of Justice Award.

The Award, given annually by Community Legal Services of Mid-Florida (CLSMF), honors members of the legal profession who exhibit outstanding dedication to pro bono work.  Founded in 1966, CLSMF has provided civil legal assistance to residents of Brevard, Citrus, Flagler, Hernando, Lake, Marion, Orange, Osceola, Putnam, Seminole, Sumter, and Volusia counties, making it one of the largest nonprofit law firms in the state. CLSMF has approximately 100 staff including lawyers, advocates, and support staff who work in 11 offices serving 12 counties in Central Florida.

Belvin Perry, Jr. is a former chief judge in the Florida’s Ninth Judicial Circuit. Apart from being held in high-regard by his peers, he gained widespread notoriety in popular culture being the presiding judge during the high-profile Casey Anthony trial. During the award ceremony, Mr. Perry cited the New Testament, and recognized Ms. Arago’s commitment to the least among us.
